Membership Recruitment

Potential members can join the organisation because of a particular interest they have in the objects of the charity and their wish to support the organisation in fulfilling its charitable role.  The principal benefit of membership is the satisfaction of knowing that through their involvement and participation, the organisation is in a stronger position to achieve its objects.

In addition, a member will:

  1. Receive regular news updates about developments within the organisation and in the mental health field generally.
  2. Receive copies of the Annual Report of the charity.
  3. Be entitled to vote at Annual General Meetings.
  4. Be eligible to be elected as a Trustee of the charity.

Responsibilities of Membership

One may acquire membership by making a contribution of £5.00 (waged) or £2 (unwaged).  In addition, Members may also make other voluntary donations to the charity and support its promotional and fundraising activities.  Members will further be invited to attend general meetings of the charity and support other activities of the organisation.

Membership Expectations

Upon application, applicants will be given a copy of ‘Mind in Ealing and Hounslow Membership Information’ which explains all the benefits, responsibilities and roles of membership.

It will be up to new members to ensure that they fully understand such responsibilities and benefits as well as their rights as members.

It is hoped that members will exercise their right to vote at meetings, in person or through a named representative.

Apart from their names, all information about members held electronically and in the form of membership forms is kept confidential and never disclosed to anyone subject to the Data Protection Act.

Membership Renewal

Apart from life membership, all other membership is subject to annual renewal.  Each year, the Company Secretary sends out membership renewal letters to all annual members and membership can be automatically renewed upon receipt of the completed renewal forms and the appropriate subscription payment

Friends of Mind in Ealing and Hounslow

Mind in Ealing and Hounslow also encourages the development of a form of loose membership known as ‘Friends of Mind in Ealing and Hounslow’.  A Friend is any person who supports the aims and objects of the Charity, but who, for various reasons, may not wish to take up membership.

Friends of Mind in Ealing and Hounslow may be called upon to help with campaigns, fundraising events and promotional activities.  There is no financial liability for Friends but voluntary donations may be expected.

Friends will receive regular copies of Straight to Mind as well as other updates about developments within the organisation. Friends will also be invited to general Meetings, and can contribute to discussions but will not be entitled to vote.

If you would like to become a member (or renew your membership) please fill in the form and return it with your registration/subscription to:
